One set that was used by Philadelphia was the zipper set.
#2 comes off of the down screen set by #5 and receives the
ball from #1. In this play, #4 sets a down screen for
#3 who curls while #4 pops back to set up a possible pinch
post option.
Out of a Horns formation, #1 passes to the post and looks to
set a possible baseline Flex screen for #2. #2 can
either take that or the down screen from #5. The
diagram shows #2 coming off of the down screen.
One of the ways that Philadelphia attacks in transition is
the side ball screen. #1 will dribble to the wing and
receive it from #5. #2 will cut through to the
opposite corner while #3 will stop at the help-side wing and
#4 will post up help side.
In transition, Philadelphia can also go to a middle ball
screen. Here, the offensive movement is the same
except that #5 sets the screen in the middle of the floor
for #1.
Near the end of the first quarter, Philadelphia went to a
1-4 flat and had #1 drive to the basket. #4 floats
high to make himself available.
From a Horns formation, #1 enters the ball to #4 and cuts to
the help-side wing. #4 will then work a dribble
handoff with #2 who can then dribble penetrate, shoot, or
work the play like a side pick and roll.
